　　Art Shenzhen, an art fair aimed at driving art development in the city, will display numerous pieces of artworks for art fans and collectors.

　　With the participation of artists, collectors, curators, NGOs, galleries and art fans, the art fair will promote artistic creation, refine the public aesthetic culture and enhance the international profile of Shenzhen.

　　Shenzhen is a modern metropolis and has achieved great success in economic development. Art Shenzhen was launched four years ago to meet the city’s needs for contemporary art and to promote the city’s soft power.

　　The art fair has been supported by many local collectors and artists since being launched. It has set a high threshold for the selection of exhibitors and their artworks based on feedback from collectors and investors, ensuring the quality and variety of artworks chosen for exhibition.

　　According to a report jointly released by Artron and Artprice, over 91,400 works of art were auctioned in China last year, involving US$4.7 billion in total. By taking up 38 percent of global market share, China has surpassed the United States as the leading country in art auctions.

　　Shenzhen is a forerunner leading the reform and opening-up of China. After 30 years of development, Shenzhen has grown into an international city and a strong economic power, with well-developed financial systems and fully-fledged cultural facilities.

　　Neighboring Hong Kong and Macao, and sitting at the mouth of Pearl River Delta, Shenzhen is one of the main windows linking China with the rest of the world. The city has certain advantages for the accessibility of art resources from across the globe.

　　As a “City of Design” and “City of Makers,” Shenzhen is a young and vibrant city that is ready to embrace the prosperity of its art market.

　　Art Shenzhen has earned a reputation since it was launched four years ago. In its fifth year, the art fair will take an array of measures to improve the quality of its exhibitions. A total of 50 art organizations will join the art fair this year, while 27 of them are attending the fair for the first time.

　　Art Shenzhen will also increase the participation of collectors this year. An exhibition area will be set up where collectors can showcase their collections during the fair. Corporate buyers will be offered opportunities to purchase works in an organized way, while interaction and exchange among collectors from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao will be strengthened as well.
